Background

Custom & Personalized connects large corporate clients, including Johnson & Johnson, to their teams through branded merchandise and managed uniform programs, while also fulfilling on-demand orders for public buyers. The brand needed a digital experience capable of housing private, password-gated corporate portals alongside an open public storefront. We took on the web design and development work to move the business off a fragile DIY layout and onto a hardened Shopify Online Store 2.0 framework.

The challenge

The existing live-preview customizer broke whenever a buyer changed product variants: an uploaded logo would vanish or the layout box would glitch when switching between colors. Catalog routing was also contaminated, with public shoppers seeing private corporate branding and private portals leaking public upload panels. The Zepto Product Personalizer app was capped at 500 products against a catalog of more than 700 entries, and high-margin categories showed inaccurate placeholder imagery and forced fields, such as sleeve customization on sleeveless items.

What we built

We prototyped in Figma, then built on a cloned Shopify staging environment to protect seasonal volume. We rewrote the customization preview canvas so asset states cache globally across variants, keeping logos and dimensions intact when buyers switch colors, and added hooks that hide sleeve selectors on products without sleeves. We applied a corporate color system (Deep Navy and Vibrant Green), replaced generic imagery with footage of real craftsmanship, guided the owner through an app tier upgrade to lift the product cap, deployed the variant fix across 699 items, added smart filtering by price, color, brand, and type, and fully separated public and password-gated B2B collections.

The result

Large-scale buyers can now customize, preview, and purchase complex bulk orders without hitting error states, reducing support ticket volume. Corporate accounts operate inside isolated, password-protected portals that protect their brand assets. The mobile-responsive store launched with zero downtime, letting the brand begin marketing campaigns immediately.
