Background
Federal Benefits Service, an independent firm that is not affiliated with the federal government, helps federal employees review their benefits and plan their retirement. A team of benefits directors meets with members, and members subscribe for fund recommendations, a Thrift Savings Plan market watch, and federal news. The business runs on two connected products: a mobile app members carry on their phones and a membership website that handles bookings and billing. OgreLogic owns both.
The challenge
This is a real membership business spread across an app and a website that have to stay in step. Members pay recurring subscriptions, advisors take benefits review bookings, and the fund recommendations and federal news the app shows have to match what the team publishes on the site. It all has to run reliably every day, process payments correctly, satisfy the app stores' rules for a finance category app, and keep improving. Federal Benefits Service needed one team to own the app, the website, the payments, and the infrastructure rather than stitching together separate vendors.
What we built and maintain
OgreLogic runs the whole stack, from the apps and the website down to hosting and payments. The work covers:
- The mobile app, on iOS and Android. Fund allocation recommendations across conservative, moderate, and aggressive profiles, month to month return charts, Thrift Savings Plan guidance, a Federal News Bulletin and TSP Market Watch feed with push notifications, in app membership signup, and an AI assistant members can ask questions.
- The website, on WordPress and WooCommerce hosted on AWS. A membership and subscription store billed through Stripe, advisor bio pages with intro videos and Calendly booking, a Benefits Review booking flow with email notifications, the Federal News Bulletin and TSP Market Watch blog, and an appointment calendar.
- A connected content workflow. The recommendations and articles the team publishes on the website flow into the app, and mobile analytics are mirrored on the site, so the team manages everything from one place.
- AI search and SEO. We optimized the site for AI search visibility, rewrote meta titles and descriptions, fixed the robots file and XML sitemap, and ran ongoing improvements to grow visibility and lead conversion.
- Store compliance. We keep the app compliant as a finance category product, including publishing the required disclaimer that the company is independent and not affiliated with the federal government.
- Ongoing maintenance and support. Plugin and WooCommerce updates, server and PHP upgrades on AWS, payment and subscription fixes, security monitoring and fast incident response, member and role management, and quick turnaround on day to day content and design requests.
The result
Federal Benefits Service runs its entire operation on the app and website OgreLogic delivered. Members get fund recommendations, federal news, and an AI assistant on their phones, the website handles bookings, memberships, and subscription billing, and the two stay in sync from a single content workflow. OgreLogic keeps both live, compliant, and improving as an ongoing partner across development, hosting, security, and AI and SEO.
