Background
Jack Apps Education was built by teachers to give students hands-on practice with word structure. Its suite includes Build Words with Prefixes and Suffixes, Build Compound Words, and Build Plurals, each a simple, focused iPad activity for assembling real words, like untie, preview, enjoyable, and joyful. The apps are made for diverse classroom learners.
The challenge
Classroom apps have to keep working year after year, on whatever iPads a school happens to have, through every iOS update. These apps had gone a long time without maintenance and had fallen behind, with display bugs such as words overlapping on certain iPad models, and they had run into App Store availability issues. The job was to bring a teacher-built app suite back up to current standards and keep it there, for a small team with no developer on staff.
What we do
OgreLogic maintains and updates the Jack Apps Education suite:
- Updated the apps to current iOS versions, including iOS 16, and to current iPad models, fixing display bugs such as overlapping words on specific iPads.
- Rebuilt and re-published the apps to the App Store, handling the developer account, certificates, and TestFlight builds so the teachers could verify each version on their own devices.
- Returned the full source code and design assets to the client when they asked, so they always own their work.
The result
Jack Apps Education's word-building apps are current and classroom-ready again, maintained by OgreLogic so a small, teacher-led education team can keep its tools in students' hands without a developer on staff.
