Background
The Miramar Inn is a boutique coastal lodging property a short walk from the shoreline in Half Moon Bay, California. After KN Properties acquired the inn, the new ownership wanted to re-brand it and replace an outdated web presence with a fast, modern site that could capture real-time guest bookings and sit alongside their other hotel and RV park properties.
The challenge
The legacy site actively worked against the business. Homepages still carried old "Quality Inn" wording, and the browser tab read "Oceanfront Hotel," which risked misleading guests and inviting negative reviews. Boilerplate copy falsely claimed a 5-star hotel with 24-hour room service, valet parking, and a pool. The booking call to action led to dead links that could not process a reservation, and the area attraction links looped users back to the homepage. The client also had no organized copy or high-resolution images at kickoff.
What we designed and built
We handled the web design and development on WordPress, using the Zante theme within an Elementor Pro environment so the client could edit the site themselves later. We:
- Removed the inaccurate "Quality Inn" and "Oceanfront Hotel" text and replaced the false luxury claims with verified amenities: free high-speed Wi-Fi, cable television, and continental breakfast.
- Wrote a custom About page and built a working amenities and area guide, with real local dining and recreation links to Sam's, Barbara's, the Ketch, the Miramar Beach Restaurant, Visit Half Moon Bay, Mavericks Surf Shop, and Half Moon Bay Kayak.
- Wired prominent "Book Now" buttons across the header, navigation, and room pages into the client's Direct-Book reservation system for self-service booking on any device.
The result
The inn moved from a broken, inherited template to an accurate, working storefront. The site now reflects the real property, processes reservations directly through the Direct-Book pipeline, and runs on the client's GoDaddy hosting with an SSL certificate. The Elementor-based build lets the KN Properties team manage booking rules, pricing, and room images without ongoing developer costs.
