$1,000/mo Proprietary platform fee eliminated
Zero Downtime during migration
30-day Free trial billing corrected in Stripe

Background

Founded by Dr. Liesl Roome, MyoClinic gives patients a digital library of clinical tests, treatment videos, and lifestyle trackers through its myoMassage app. The clinic wanted to scale that offering globally, but the app lived on a proprietary platform the clinic did not own. We were brought in to move the asset onto a custom web application the clinic could fully own, control, and grow.

The challenge

The legacy Passion.io platform charged a $1,000 per month subscription and routinely answered feature and bug-fix requests with a flat refusal. The billing logic was broken: an undefined variable crashed subscriptions across multiple banks, and faulty trial handling charged some patients on registration day instead of after their 30-day trial. The interface confused older patients, who often unsubscribed from email by mistake while staying billed for the app. Migrating off the closed system also meant safely preserving access for existing annual and long-term subscribers without any downtime.

What we built

We re-architected the product as a self-hosted custom Laravel web application on the clinic's own servers, cutting platform overhead to standard hosting rates. The web design centered on geriatric accessibility: large text, high-contrast buttons, and an accordion layout that turns long tracking forms into clean, tappable sections. We rewrote the broken subscription logic, added a true 30-day free trial inside Stripe, and placed an explicit Cancel Plan button in the user dashboard. A simplified admin control center lets the team publish videos and edit content without a developer. Symptom tracking was reframed around symptoms rather than pain, with sleep-discrepancy tracking, a goal milestone motivator, and printable PDF summaries patients can share with their physicians.

The result

The clinic walked away from the $1,000 per month lock-in and onto independent servers, saving thousands in annual software overhead. Stricter input verification and transparent trial terms ended the surprise billings and broken registrations that had driven support tickets. Dr. Roome now owns an enterprise-ready healthcare platform she can adapt and expand without hitting technical limits. As she put it: "I'm really happy with how this is looking. I think it's ready to go live."

Great company. Fair cost, and they care about you being satisfied, was my experience. Delivered in 2 months what my previous company couldn't deliver in 2 years.
