Background
Prime Women, led by founder Dorthy Shore, publishes lifestyle, health, and style content for women over 50. Plate was its recipe product: a members' app, with a companion website, offering recipes and meal ideas built for that audience, on a subscription.
The challenge
A subscription app has to do two things well: deliver content people want to come back to, and handle recurring billing cleanly across the App Store, Google Play, and the web. Prime Women needed all of that built and then kept running, including the payments, the promotions, and the hosting, so the team could focus on the recipes and their audience rather than the plumbing.
What we built and ran
OgreLogic delivered and operated the full Plate product:
- The Plate apps for iOS and Android, along with the companion website.
- Subscription billing through Apple in-app purchases and Braintree, with promo codes and free-trial promotions the team could run for campaigns.
- Hosting and ongoing maintenance, including app store policy compliance and issue resolution, under a monthly plan.
The result
Plate gave Prime Women a branded recipe app and website with working subscriptions across iOS, Android, and the web, built and operated by OgreLogic. It is one piece of a broader, multi-year relationship in which OgreLogic also supports the main Prime Women website.
