Background
WOTA is a nonprofit professional association run by volunteer continuing education chairs and a board, supporting occupational therapy practitioners across Washington State with continuing education, committees, an annual conference, and member resources. The board wanted a mobile app to put all of that in members' hands and give the association a modern front door.
The challenge
Building for a volunteer-led nonprofit is its own kind of project. Decisions move at the pace of a board that meets periodically and votes, the budget is a nonprofit budget, and the app still has to look professional and work alongside the association's existing website and member systems. The job was to deliver a polished app while fitting the association's pace and its stack.
What we built
OgreLogic designed and developed the WA OT Association app for iOS and Android, organized around what members actually need:
- Committees, so members can find and join the groups that run the association.
- Education and a Post Test, so practitioners can engage with continuing education and complete the assessment that earns credit.
- Donate, giving members a simple way to support the nonprofit.
- A clear introduction to the association and a simple bottom navigation tying it all together.
We built it to sit alongside WOTA's existing website and software, renamed the store listing from WOTA to WA OT Association, and took it through Apple's review to launch on the App Store.
The result
The Washington Occupational Therapy Association now has its own app on the App Store, giving occupational therapy practitioners across the state a direct line to committees, continuing education, the conference, and the association itself. OgreLogic carried the project from design through store launch and worked at the board's pace to get it across the line.
